The above video is a 1-minute section of a longer piece that can be viewed here , in which former crew leaders Rayna and Simon, and YFP advisor Katie talk about the impact YFP has on the youth involved and the greater community. Another video about the Youth Farm Project can be viewed on the Youth Farm Project’s website.
The Youth Farm Project is in need of new equipment to continue to develop in furthering its mission: to include local youth from diverse social and economic backgrounds as integral participants in building equitable local food communities.
As we enter our fifth year, the Youth Farm Project has emerged as program that changes kids’ lives and involves them directly in helping their community on multiple levels. Through these past few years of growth, we have been fortunate enough to be able to borrow a great deal of farm equipment and in-kind repairs. Now, as we’re entering our fifth year of this increasingly vital and impactful community program, what we really need is a new-to-us tractor and key implements.
This equipment would help to improve efficiency on the farm, allowing our youth to have a more diverse work experience, while increasing our potential to create positive change within our community.
Whether you can contribute $5 or $5,000, every dollar will be put to good use at the Youth Farm Project. While we purposefully include an entrepreneurial component in our program, we rely on contributions from throughout the community year-round in order to keep the Youth Farm Project running to the best of its ability, as well to improve its reach in the lives of our local youth and the community. Importantly, we are working to transition from a program funded by a handful of foundations and individuals, to one that is supported by a broad range of community members who value the work that we do.
